Sci-tech Clubs

General Secretary - Rajat Bansal

We all, as a part of an elite league of institutes, aspire to work at the frontiers of human knowledge, innovate technology, initiate revolutions in science and propel national development to new heights. But often in such a competitive environment, work is stressed to the point of mania and this is when comes in the need of recreation. Rediscover your hobbies and explore new ones with Clubs at IIT Bhilai. Mind you there is absolutely no bound on anyone’s interest which also means that there is no bound on how many clubs you can be in – it is all up to you. Currently the following clubs are functional and conduct their respective activities at a regular basis:

Developers Student Club - by Google Developers

 Lead: Arjun Singh Kushwaha

About: Developer Student Clubs or DSC is a University Program kickstarted by Google Developers to train thousands of student developers globally and work with their communities to solve real-life problems. DSC IIT Bhilai was set-up primarily to ensure that we can bridge the divide between a student’s eagerness to learn and the technology evolving every day. The Developer Student Clubs (DSC) program is a grassroots channel through which the members of the community provide development skills for students, towards employability. In addition to workshops, DSCs also provide an opportunity for students to apply their newly gained skills to develop solutions for local organizations and then provide visibility via showcases. We will be taking up projects and any individual, group or organization with a good idea for a project and a thought to create an impact by making lives of people better will be welcome. We welcome all the development projects that involve the latest technologies like App development, Machine Learning, Web Development, Cloud Development and much more.

  • Students have the opportunity to not only learn development skills, but also apply it to live problems by developing solutions, and then showcasing their work within their communities.
  • Students get to develop their portfolios by showcasing the projects that have live applications rather than academic-only projects.
  • By developing solutions for local businesses/organizations, the college is positioning itself as a center of talented individuals that can provide offerings to the local community.
  • Direct Point of Communication with Enterprises that look for Tech Talents, as DSC Leads are Community Leaders empowered with the authority to issue Referrals for Strong Candidates.

The Space Exploration Society (SES)

All the members are really passionate about physics related to Black Holes, Dark Energy, Effects of gravity on space time. The members are highly interactive on such topics and you will definitely enjoy the conversation if you love astrophysics.

 Activities planned for upcoming semester:

  • STAR GAZING: With recently procured high power telescopes, members can gaze into the void of space.
  • The Aerospace section will be designing its first low altitude plane in upcoming semester.
  • SES also plans to participate in National Student Space Challenge 2019.

Institute Innovation Council (IIC)

 President: Prof. P. D. Srivastava

 Convener: Dr. Sanjib Banerjee

 Co-ordinator: Rachuri Sri Pramodh

About:Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India has established ‘MHRD’s Innovation Cell (MIC)’ to systematically foster the culture of Innovation amongst all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The primary mandate of MIC is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes while they are informative years. MIC has envisioned encouraging creation of ‘Institution’s Innovation Council (IICs)’ across selected HEIs. A network of these IICs has been established to promote innovation in the Institution through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion eco-system in the campuses.

 Major focus of IIC:

  • To create a vibrant local innovation ecosystem.
  • Start-up supporting Mechanism in HEIs.
  • Prepare institute for Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements Framework.
  • Establish Function Ecosystem for Scouting Ideas and Pre-incubation of Ideas.
  • Develop better Cognitive Ability for Technology Students.

 Function of IIC:

  • To conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities prescribed by Central MIC in time bound fashion.
  • Identify and reward innovations and share success stories.
  • Organize periodic workshops/ seminars/ interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, professionals and create a mentor pool for student innovators.
